NEWBORN
Both first-time and not-so-first-time moms know the pains of having to deal with the lack of sleep with their newborn babies. This is such a common problem that most have come to accept it as part of motherhood, but even if it is so… do know that there are ways on how these sleeping habits can be improved.
Sleep When Your Baby Sleeps
This is the tried-and-tested method of moms in having more sleeping time of their own. Whether you choose to sleep beside your baby or keep a baby monitor beside you, do make use of this time to clock in some hours for you to rest and recharge. Avoid using this time to catch up on chores because there are ways to do that while your baby is awake.
Enlist All the Help You Can
Never say “no” when someone you trust offers help in caring for your baby. Although it’s advisable to lessen your time in welcoming and entertaining guests, if they came with the mission to ease some of your responsibilities—then by all means open your door for them. Also, don’t shy away from speaking out your dilemmas with your husband. He’s your partner for a reason and both of you should work hand in hand in taking care of your baby.
Invest in Helpful Baby Accessories
Anything that would help you get more rest and sleep is a worthy investment. A perfect example of which is a burp pillow in which you can position your baby on when it’s time for burping and napping time. It has that special groove in the middle that mimics the feel of a mother’s arms. Just make sure to leave your scent on the sheets, so your baby would feel more at ease. There are a lot of other baby accessories that you can benefit from. Just do some research and don’t hesitate to invest in these, especially if it’s your own health—and sanity—on the line as well.
